I know a lot of people have been experiencing lag issues lately, and I can't seem to play the game anymore without the dreaded 007. I tried using the search function to no avail.

I saw a thread recently (cannot for the life of me remember anything about it that would help in a keyword search) that said that there is a program that searches and closes unused processes or applications. I think that might be at least a small part of the problem.

Anyway, it's making the game extremely difficult to play so I'm hoping that someone can give me some advise on which programs can help me clean up my comp or get me a link to the thread that had that info. I'm sorry for not finding it myself. I did at least 7 or 8 various searches.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I used IObit Advanced SystemCare. It's freeware. With it you can get IObit Game Booster. I highly recommend it!

I use GameBooster on it's own, but some of the things they suggest you turn off you should KEEP on. I checked all the services on my own.

I wouldn't trust any program to kill off what they "think" are unneeded/unnecessary, unless you want to risk messing your computer up.

If you have unwanted programs they're often malicious and randomly named. Best thing there is to scan for spyware.

Background apps typically use 1 to 10 seconds of processing time per 24 hours. There are 86,400 seconds in a day, so you're looking at 0.0012% to 0.012% processing time, per process. Even if you have hundreds of these things running, your frame rate would still not suffer any.

i think tarun advice is sound always go that route first if your experiencing a slow down then you can try the other programs next if you still havent gotten the speed you need. id say most likely you got maleware so getting rid of it should be a priorty over getting rid of un necessary programs but it doesnt hurt to do both

What guarantee do you have that the changes are temporary though? None.

I've seen a lot of people say that disabling Windows services and other tasks is a good idea. That's laughable. Microsoft designed them, they know how they function and what they are supposed to do.

Honestly, it's the same category as xp AntiSpy and other similarly named programs in this thread.

It's best to avoid them.

These programs do not disable the services, just close them. They automatically restart when you restart your computer.

Some of them actually do disable services. Idle services don't take up many resources at all. In fact, what they do take up is next to nothing really. Especially when idle.
